![]() ![]() You play as a generic silent protagonist with a sidekick that does your talking for you, while also constantly telling you "the next area is dangerous, be sure to heal and buy supplies before we go." It tells you exactly where to go and what to do, and then makes "clever" jokes about how this isn't a video game. The mon designs range from dumb and bland to "ok i guess." At most, I've thought "oh thats interesting" about a couple. The status conditions are just different names for the same thing: either you can't attack, you take damage, or both. The battles are simple to the point of being boring, with only six elements and a neutral. It's all of the linear hand holding that recent pokemon games have, with none of the redeeming qualities. It looks and feels like a mobile pokemon knock off, which isn't that surprising. Picked it up for switch and put a good chunk of time in. It's a wonderful experience to do it like that, and was really fun for me.īut have fun with whatever you decide! I hope this helped in your decisions!Ī couple days late, but I'll add my thoughts. Then immediately buy and play through Nexomon 1. Play through it, do some post game stuff, and just play until you feel satisfied with that playthrough. Wait until Extinction comes out to play it (on the 30th). ![]() That is, unless you've played Extinction, at which point it becomes really fun! So do I recommend Nexomon 1? No, not at all. It has a good story, good characters, lots of jokes, it pokes fun a Pokemon tropes, good music, a decent story, an amazing post game, an unfair battle mechanic which I really like, It's more challenging, the 'mon were designed alright here, and if you aren't using mega rare 'mon you'll have a rough time. Much better than anything Gamefreak has ever put out.Īs for Nexomon 1 though, it's pretty good. If I were to review it, I'd give it a 9/10. So just a word of advice, is all.īut as for what you actually asked about, I'll give a small review of both 1 and Extinction, in the order you should play them.Įxtinction is a phenomenal game, the world is huge, it's much more open ended than Pokemon, the story is great with lots of twists, the characters are great, legendaries actually have something to do with the story, it has fantastic music, the custom mode is amazing, the core system is fantastically designed, and the 'mon designs are good. If you search 'games like Pokemon' you're gonna get some cheaply made results, with the games almost always being worse than Pokemon. It can go by other names, but that'll get you the right search results. Nexomon, and Pokemon, along with other games like them, are all in a genre known as monster taming. And I wholeheartedly think you should pick up Extinction, as it is my second favorite game.īut knockoff isn't the word you're looking for. I suggest you play Extinction first, as the original is best enjoyed when played after Extinction. ![]()
